Your Onboarding and Staff Training: What Happens in September

What happens once we're signed up?

Once your Proposal Document is signed and Terms of Engagement (linked within your Proposal Document) are in place, we'll get your school set up on the Race Academy Platform and your Kart Kit into production. Your Team Principal (lead teacher) will receive login details by email; see [Logging In: How to login and complete your profile] for the first step. From that moment you can complete any outstanding Team/School Details and begin exploring and familiarising yourself with the platform.

Is there a staff training session to attend?

We are proud to say that very minimal staff training is required; certainly no one requires any prior mechanical knowledge or a specific skill set. Because the Race Academy platform does so much of the ‘heavy lifting’ in terms of the teaching and learning, both staff and students learn together as they progress along the programme.

However, there are two opportunities for staff onboarding: we run two 1hr long sessions at the very start of September, one during lunchtime and the other repeated again after school hours. These are recorded, so if you miss them they can be made available for you to catch-up on. The onboarding will include: a welcome introduction to the programme and team, a timeline for the year (highlighting key dates & milestones), a functional tour of the platform, brief mechanical overview, and anything new for the academic year.

What should we get done first, once we're set up?

In order:

  • Complete your profile (Team Principal) and any missing information
  • Self Certify your kit once it arrives — see [Certifying Your Kit]
  • Add any other teachers or support staff who'll help run the programme
  • Onboard your students
  • Prepare the classroom/storage space for your project
