What is Module 0?
Module 0 is where every build starts. It covers unboxing your Kart Kit, checking it against the components list, and completing self-certification; see [Certifying Your Kit] for the full walkthrough. Your other build modules stay locked until Module 0 is complete, so it's the first job for the Lead Teacher and students once the kit arrives. A key point to note is to ensure the small bottle of brake fluid (Pack 15) is removed from the kit placed in a secure location (often the Science store room).
How many modules make up a full build?
The build runs across 26 sequenced modules, taking you from Module 0 through to a fully assembled kart, ready to compete. Therefore, after module 26 you technically have a mechanically completed Kart Kit. Modules are designed to be worked through in order, each covering a specific stage of assembly.
There are 39 modules in total, one for every week of the academic year. So the remaining modules from 27 to 39 include: fitting the graphics kit, tuning & performance based modules and of course… the all important end-of-year dismantling!
When is the latest we can start building?
Self-certification (Module 0) needs to be completed within 4 weeks of your Kart Kit being delivered, whatever point in the year that happens to be, this is what unlocks your other modules. Beyond that, we don't set a hard deadline to begin the physical build, but you'll need enough weeks left in your school year to work through all 26 build-up modules (minimum) and be race-ready, so the earlier you start, the more comfortable your pacing will be.
Generally we suggest starting no later than January of the academic year you’re in. Any later into the school year and we tend to find the programme can feel a little rushed, and therefore the students don’t experience the same depth of learning.
What if my team falls behind?
It happens, and it's rarely a problem if you flag it early. Get in touch via [Support Routes: who to contact and when] so we can help you with guidance, perhaps adjust your pacing, or bring in extra support. The worst outcome is a team going quiet and struggling alone.
Ultimately, we do offer a Mechanical Booster service. One of our own trained mechanics can attend your school and support your young people to take significant steps forward in your build. They are also available if you’d simply like some hands-on in-person support and guidance. What happens if we start to struggle?
Falling behind on time and struggling with a specific build stage are different problems, but the fix is the same either way: contact us as soon as you notice it.
