Do we need to provide fuel or oil?
No, you don't need to source or bring fuel or oil yourselves. Your kart isn't fuelled or run at school during the build; fuel and oil are handled as part of our event-day operations, with our team managing delivery and fill on the day itself. On the day we provide special carbon neutral synthetically made fuel, plus exactly the correct amount of oil, as well as an application of chain lubricant. Everything you need for your kart to run smoothly, safely and successfully.
Do we need to provide race suits or helmets?
No, these don't need to be sourced by your school either. Your drivers are kitted up and fitted with the appropriate safety equipment as part of our event-day process; full detail on what that looks like is covered in the Event Days kitting-up and PPE article.
If you, or any of your drivers do wish to bring and use their own racewear: helmets, race suits, boots and gloves; there need to be presented to and checked over by our chief Motorsport UK accredited scrutineer. Without their sign-off, they cannot be used out on track.
What do we actually need to buy or bring, then?
For the event days, you'll need to bring the tools with you covered in [Tools: What You Need, Substitutes, and Buying More], plus whatever your school already provides in terms of a stand to rest the kart on; see [Preparing Your Space: Room, Storage and Equipment]. Fuel, oil, race suits and helmets are all taken care of once you reach an event.
You may wish to purchase another second tool-kit. This can be helpful if you’re trying to condense the programme down into a shorter number of weeks, or generally complete the build faster. It doesn’t matter how many willing hands you have… if there’s only one spanner, that’ll be the limiting factor.
Apart from that, there is very little extra equipment you need to purchase to run the programme. It has been designed to be able to be completed in almost all school/educational settings, without the need for specialist environments or equipment.
