Drivers briefing
During the morning, drivers and team members will be required to attend a Drivers Briefing. The Clerk of the Course will go through important instructions, safety requirements and general instructions for the day. Attendance is mandatory, and teams will not be permitted on track without attendance.
Track walks
Each team will be allocated a time slot for their track walk, meeting at the end of the dummy grid near the start/finish line. A member of the Track Walk Team will then walk the team around the circuit, discussing important aspects of each part of the track, such as basic racing lines, marshal posts, what types of safety flags may be displayed, etc. The track walk will finish with the teams being shown the pit stop process.
Assembly area / dummy grid
Tannoy announcements will support the official timetable, so that teams know when to get to the assembly area and dummy grid. Initially, karts will be pushed into the assembly area to complete any final checks or practice engine starts, and teams can also inflate their tyres and set tyre pressures.
When directed by the Dummy Grid Officials, teams will then push their karts onto the dummy grid and will be directed to their individual starting position grid slot on the dummy grid. Once directed by the Grid Officials, teams are to push their karts onto the track and form up in dummy grid order on the track in the respective grid marking. Drivers can then sit in the karts and prepare for the start of the race.
Kitting up area
The location of the Kitting Up Area will be communicated ahead of the event days, along with a timeslot for your team to attend. This will be the area in which teams' drivers can borrow race suits and helmets for the event. Only team drivers and one teacher per team will be permitted in this area.
Upon completion of the driver's stint, they are required to return to the Kitting Up Area and return their equipment, so it can be re-allocated to the next driver.
Safety equipment / PPE
There will be various safety equipment available to borrow or purchase — items such as race suits and helmets will be available in limited supply. There will also be a limited number of seat inserts (to reduce the overall seat size for smaller drivers) and pedal extension blocks (which attach to the pedals to bring them closer for smaller drivers) — both of these items will also be available to purchase, subject to stock availability.
