What's the best way to clean the kart?
For general cleaning, using a clean microfibre cloth or paper towels is advisable. Cleaning products such as a general degreaser (for example WD40 or GT85) or other general purpose cleaners such as Elbow Grease are suitable. It is important to ensure not to use them on the brake disc or pads, as it will leave residue that causes the brakes not to work efficiently initially on their next use.
Products such as brake cleaner should be used to clean the brake disc and pads. This can also be used to clean chain lubricant off the chain guard, or from around the sprocket, clutch and engine. Be careful not to spray any into bearings, such as axle bearings.
Pressure washers can be used to clean the kart, however it is advisable to remove the engine first. Special attention must be paid not to spray directly into bearings, such as axle bearings or front wheel bearings, as this can remove the necessary grease or lubricant already fitted inside the bearing seals.
Bodywork cleaning
To clean the plastic parts of your bodywork, use a product such as Elbow Grease or a general cleaner, with either a clean cloth or a magic sponge.
To clean your sticker kit, use a general degreaser such as WD40 or GT85 with a clean cloth. You can also use furniture polish for additional shine to finish.
To remove tyre marks etc, it is recommended to use a more harsh product such as acetone with a clean cloth or magic sponge. Only teachers or staff should use these harsher products and chemicals, for safety.
